Help Us Purchase Shelters for Our Therapy Horses!

The Legacy Ranch has 17 therapy horses that we use in all of our programming. These horses work hard every day, as they recognize that they are the central focus on all therapeutic sessions.

We recently received funding that allowed us to purchase two shelters that we placed in two separate lots. However, we have two additional paddocks that also need shelters.

Horses need to be able to find shelter in order to escape the weather elements and stay comfortable. In the summer seeking shelter protects them from the sun, (Yes horses can get sun burn!) and helps prevent them from overheating. In the winter, it protects them from the cold wind gusts, freezing rain, and snow. In the Spring, they are able to take cover from the rain and goofy cold snaps we have!

We still allow the horses to be outside without shelters, but any time questionable weather comes our way, we need to bring them inside to their stalls for shelter, which isn't preferred. Horses survive longer and stay healthier when they are able to move freely in a larger space for long periods of time. This prevents stomach issues like colic, ulcers, and gastrointestinal issues. These medical concerns end up being very costly if a horse suffers from these issues, and it can be prevented by allowing horses to free roam on a large space of land.

With your support, we will be able to purchase 2 additional shelters for the horsess o they can stay outside longer, in return helping them stay healthier.

Our hope is to be able to purchase 2 additional shelters before the weather get really bad this year. Please help out our hard working horses!
